Sports Ministry commiserates with Africa Vision Soccer Academy over death of players

The Ministry of Youth and Sports have penned a message of condolence to Africa Vision Soccer Academy following the death of eight young footballers in Offinso, Ashanti Region on Saturday evening.

Unpleasant news struck the Ghanaian football fraternity last Saturday September 19, 2020 as a bus carrying 36 passengers of Africa Vision Soccer Academy, a Colts team was involved in an accident as they journeyed back to their Offinso base in the Offinso Municipal Assembly.The accident left six of the footballers dead instantly with two later dying at KATH.

The team were on their way home from Afrancho after vetting and registration of juvenile football players in readiness for the District's Juvenile League. The exercise is sanctioned by GFA.

Update from the National Sports Authority indicates that; Eight (8) players among the 33 victims have been confirmed dead as at today.

-Six (6) of the victims are in critical conditions at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi.
-Four (4) victims are currently hospitalized at Offinso St. Patrick Catholic Hospital and are in stable condition.
-Six (6) victims also at Namong SDA Hospital, near Offinso are in stable condition.

The victims who sustained minor injuries have been discharged from St. Patrick and Namong SDA Hospitals mentioned above.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports in a statement assured that appropriate measured would be taken to avert future occurrence;
