Occupants of a two storey building at Ash Town in the Manhyia South Constituency of the Ashanti Region woke up to an early Monday morning demolition exercise and tearing off roofs that led to the loss of properties and the sudden displacement of some residents and shop keepers.

Many residents who have been affected by the demolishing exercise expressed their disappointment and wondered why the the chief would carry out such an exercise when they are coping with difficult circumstances posed by COVID 19 pandemic.

“We are really disappointed in the chief who is the landlord”

''The case on the house is in court and we have appealed to a ruling which we looked to serve them only to this exercise'' one affected resident lamented.

Some affected shop owners rued that they were not given any prior notice before the demolishing exercise.

''We are just shop owners at this place and we were not informed on any court case on this building only to wake up this morning at about 2am to this demolition exercise''

''Some of us rushed to the scene pleading to the securities to allow us relocate our wares but to no avail''
